Ski, Snow tube, & Swim - All in One Fun at Camelback Resort

a sponsored macaroni kid review

We live in a great part of NY.  It is within a reasonable driving distance for almost anything you can think of for the kids.  From ski slopes to indoor and outdoor waterparks, we've got access to it all! But what if I told you you could do it all in one trip?  Camelback Resort has the answer for you!

We were so excited to be invited to Camelback Resort.  It was the perfect getaway for me to hide from my holiday "to do list" for a few days.   Camelback Resort was about a 2.5 hour drive from Saugerties.  And completely doable for me and my 3 kids!  We left in the morning, had our ski day, explored the hotel (wow!) and spent the next day at Aquatopia before driving home.

Camelback Mountain was voted the #1 place in the USA to learn to ski and snowboard.  Once I heard that, I knew we had to give our girls some ski lessons!  My oldest, 6.5, has skiied twice before, but never had gotten lessons.  My middle, who turned 4 the week before our trip, never had even attempted to put skis on.  They were both really excited to take lessons.  SkiPA helped to set my girls up with their beginner lessons.  The lesson was an hour and a half, which I was nervous the girls would want to stop early, but the instructors kept them motivated, having fun, and wanting more!

They started off in the same group, but once their skill level was determined they got placed separately.  That was great, both of them were able to get the instruction they needed. I stayed and watched the lesson while my husband enjoyed some football and wings inside with the napping baby.  However, this would be the perfect time to go and hit the more advanced trails with your more seasoned skiing buddies!

I wish I knew beforehand (you're welcome) about the daycare room!  Many mountains in PA (Camelback included) have daycare options for kids as young as 6 weeks old. We totally should have taken advantage of that, so make sure to look into it before you go, as reservations are required.

Included with your stay at the Camelback resort are your 4 ski lift tickets, 4 waterpark tickets and 4 snow tubing tickets. We loved the skiing, the water park was unlike no other we've ever been too, but we had to skip out on the snow tubing.  We do a lot of "spur of the moment" type trips.. and this trip was one of them, so unfortunatly my husband was only able to spend the day skiing with us before heading out (his loss - the waterpark was AMAZING!).  And as much as a I try to be, I am not supermom.  I know my limits, sometimes I push them, but I knew I could not do the snowtubing on this trip.  The girls were drained from skiing, the baby was at his "witching hour", so we stayed back in our room and hung out watching Christmas movies in the bunk beds!  I am still so bummed about it because I saw all the pictures and videos from my fellow Macaroni Kid publishers... and wow, galactic snowtubing looks AMAZING!

We had so much fun at Camelback Resort, thank you SkiPA for organizing something for each of my family member's needs!

SkiPA makes  it affordable for kids to hit the slopes this winter.  4th and 5th  graders can apply for the 2018/2019 Snowpass Program, which is a great  program to introduce your newbies to skiing and snowboarding.

This  first time ski program is NOT restricted to residents of Pennsylvania.   For more information on the First-Time Ski/Snowboard program or the  Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association visit www.SkiPA.com.
