When booking trips for your family, it's important to do your research on what is important to you. For example: ENTERTAINMENT, FOOD, & ACCOMODATIONS. I recently was invited to spend a few days at Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, with 30 Macaroni KID publishers from all over the US and I want to share with you my experience on these three areas from my recent trip.

Our family loves to travel, and when I told them I was going to Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, they were so excited for me, and of course a little jealous! What kid wouldn't want to go on a tropical vacation themed with all their favorite Nickelodeon shows and characters? But I didn't realize how nostalgic it would be for me, and as soon as I got home, I had the kids watching shows from the 90s!
ENTERTAINMENT:
I am just not even sure where to start! When you hear "Nickelodeon," do you think of your own childhood, or do you think of shows your kids love? Both? This resort is for everyone! The entertainment is constant. Be sure to download the Karisma app because that is where you will find the calendar and schedule of events for the day.
During the day, head to Aqua Nick, the 6-acre waterpark! From your hotel rooms at Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, take one of the many shuttles over to Aqua Nick. Pack your bag with your sunscreen and camera and you'll easily spend the rest of the day relaxing and playing! With over 20 water slides, 2 lazy rivers, cabanas, character meet and greets, Team Nick Activities, and SLIME, you won't have time to be bored!
The four lane mat slide was my favorite! I tried to conquer the poolside rock-wall and we raced across the obstacle course, but when we just wanted to relax, we headed to one of the two lazy rivers.

Of course I can't leave out getting slimed! Sliming is available for families (added cost) or during the day at Super Sliming, where everyone can get slimed!
We also had to meet Chase and Marshall because my son loves the PAW Patrol and I needed a picture with them! Other characters you might find are Skye, SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, Blue, Dora, Boots, Diego, Shimmer and Shine, Cosmo and Wanda from The Fairly OddParents, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
If you missed the Character Meets at Aqua Nick, fear not. At Plaza Orange and the Main Stage there is always a weekly array of nightly shows available. We were able to attend Slime Time Live!, an orange carpet event where we even danced with the characters, and an amazing acrobatic show with silk ropes, dancing, aerial hoops and fire! You can also book a Character Breakfast Pajama Jam (additional cost) at Nick Bistro. Here you will enjoy a family breakfast while being introduced to some of your favorite Nickelodeon characters with dancing, pictures and tons of fun!
After the nightly entertainment, I loved hanging out in the SNICK lounge. A laid-back bar and lounge with the iconic orange couch, live music, arcade games, and decor from all our favorite 90s shows. Or want to head back to your room? Order some room service and have some laughs in the walk out pool.
FOOD:
I loved knowing that I did not have to constantly be paying for every meal, snack, or drink. Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya promises Karisma Gourmet Inclusive® Dining — catering to tastes big and small, so no worries about your picky eaters. You won't be bored with the food selections at the 6 restaurants, 4 kiosks, and 3 bars!
If out at Aqua Nick, stop by any kiosk for some fixings. Whether you just needed a fresh bottle of water or your favorite tropical drink, burgers, fries, pizza, delicious Poke bowls, or some ice cream, they have you covered! Staying poolside at the rooms? Order room service or head to the ground level pool where you and your kids will love ordering drinks from the swim-up bars!
If looking for sit down dining, choose from any of the 6 restaurants. Your kids are sure to love the food display at Le Spatula. This restaurant was open in the morning until 12 for breakfast. Have your omelet made to order, right in front of you, or maybe you want to grab a bite from the donut wall. Those with a sweet tooth are sure to find their way over to the crepe station where the toppings and add-ons are endless!
Maybe you're looking for some Italian dining, with the chance of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle sighting, then head over to Piazza™. Or maybe you want to have a nostalgic meal at Good Burger™ HOME OF THE GOOD BURGER. I loved the burgers and fries here, and I heard great things about the falafel burger! At the YACHT CLUB WORLD CUISINE restaurant you have the options of many different food displays from around the world, bringing new spins to classic dishes. I may have gone back more than once to fill my plate with mashed sweet potato and sausage. Definitely will be trying to recreate that at home.
ACCOMODATIONS:
There are 280 rooms at Nickelodeon™ Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya. Rooms are either king or queen suites. Some are connecting, if you would like to book two adjoining rooms. Each room has 2 full bathrooms, a mini fridge restocked daily, and an ocean front view with a walk out pool.
I loved the comfy bathrobe and SpongeBob themed slippers and the 24/7 room service!
