I was travelling alone, during a pandemic, internationally, to a country I had never visited before. I had never left my kids for more than a day or gone further than 2 hours away, so you can imagine I was a bit nervous! But I did it, I got home safe and sound, and I had the absolute best time! I made some amazing new friends who publish Macaroni Kid in different parts of the country, and I learned that my kids can survive without me and I can have fun without them!
Have you ever looked at the images on a resort website and worried that you wouldn't see anything like that upon arrival? When I was getting ready for my trip to Meliá Caribe Beach Resort, I was keeping my fingers crossed that their website images were the real deal... Let me tell you they did not disappoint!

The pools were nothing short of amazing! The resort has both adult pools and kid friendly pools so large you won't be able to see end to end, you are sure to want to explore them all! I especially loved the little islands in the pools, where we could swim out and still be in a few inches of water, and enjoy some cocktails. My kids would definitely be doing cannonballs off of them! Our most fun pool day was when the resort threw a pool party! They blew up gigantic flamingo floats, there were balloons, mermaids, stilt dancers, music, drinks and appetizers!

Besides the pools and beach, your kids are sure to want to check out the Splash Island Water Park! With multiple pool and slide areas, there is a space for every age!

There were also many add on experiences as well as nightly entertainment. We had so much fun making our own chocolate bars. Did you know that the Dominican Republic is one of the chief producers of organic cocoa in the world? We tried cocoa tea, cocoa beans, and more! If you do not want to take part in the Chocolate Experience, make sure to stop at the shop in the lobby! I grabbed a few bars for my parents, kids, and husband!

Be sure to check out the Kid Zone for daily activities, and take advantage of the babysitting options if you want to head over to the adult only section of the Meliá Caribe Punta Cana resort. This is where you will find the flamingos!
