My family was recently invited to the Gazillion Bubble Show in NYC. Although I am not city savvy at all.... We decided to go to let the baby and 3yo have some bubble fun!
The plan was to drive to Poughkeepsie and take the metro down, and ride the subways to the show, but last minute we ended up making a weekend trip of it and headed down to Long Island first. From there we took the LIRR right to Penn Station, and walked (about 20-30) minutes to the theatre.
The Bubble show was performed by Ana Yang. Shows are also performed by her husband. My husband wondered what could someone do for an hour, on stage, with bubbles... But it is actually very cool! Yang did many tricks with the bubbles. And there were a number of chances for kids to get picked to participate on stage with her! (bring your best smile and raise that hand up high if you want your best chance to get picked). She was able to put some kids from the audience inside of a bubble, a few times too, it's hard for little hands to resist popping a giant bubble!
A few points through out the show bubbles would be blown into the audience. We were seated down front, but off to the right. So many of these bubbles did not come our way. If you want to get the MOST bubbles blown at you, be sure to sit front and center. But if you do choose to sit there, be aware you will probably get soapy!!
If you don't sit there, don't worry... at different points in the show the ENTIRE audience is covered in bubbles!! My baby loved those parts the best. She was practically falling off my lap trying to catch all the bubbles! Shrieks of delight came from all over.
Please note that cell phones and cameras are NOT allowed to used during the show. Please respect that! I wanted to take pictures the entire show, but I didn't. Instead I watched people around me continue to try and sneak photos, get asked to put the away by ushers, and then do it again. Just keep them away and make some memories!!

Note to my future self, and anyone who doesn't frequent the city, avoid the street characters (TMNT, Iron Man, Hulk etc). They actually don't care about making your kids smile, and just want you to pay them (asked me for $20 for me to take a picture with my phone!!!)
