My family was invited to attend the Hudson Valley Fair and try out the rides! Since my husband had this past weekend off, we decided to check out the fair on Sunday.
It was so much fun! We were asked by someone "You drove all the way here from Saugerties?" and my answer to anyone else that asks, is "YES! and I'd do it again!" Our family is pretty use to drives, so Saugerties to Fishkill for an awesome fair is nothing!
The first thing we did when we got there was check out the petting zoo! Of course my 2 year old convinced her Daddy to buy her food to feed the animals!
Then we checked out the Magic show, it was nice, not quite fast past enough for my 2 year old, but the older kids in the crowd loved it. Especially when they were able to go up front to pet an animal (be aware do not touch the bunny's head or you will be in for a surprise!).
We had to leave a little early from the Magic Show to head to the roller coaster which my girl kept asking for over and over. Lucky for us, she is just 36" tall which is the limit for a lot of the kids rides. She was able to go on the roller coaster with an adult. And she loooooved it! She even had her hands up most the time! Can you find her?
We each got a bracelet, very worth it for the kids if they are going on ride after ride after ride... and if you have a little one like us, adults need tickets/bracelet to go on the ride with them. There were a lot of rides I would have loved to go on, if we had one more adult with us to watch the kid, but had to skip them! I usually go for the swings and any upside down thriller. We did the roller coaster and slide the most, and the carousel and there were a few car/truck rides she was able to do alone (again she is 36" tall). There are a few rides that you can be less than 36", a good amount for 36" and up, and I believe the rest you need to be taller to ride on, even with an adult.
Unfortunately I missed the trapeze show, which I am bummed about, but I had to choose between my own wants and my daughters wants, and she won :).
We did catch the Banana Derby. That was cute, show started a few minutes late for us, but we got there early to stand in front, if you don't get there early you will be on your tip toes or have kids on your shoulders to see the race!
Of course bring extra money for any games (no review on them, we stuck to the rides), animal rides, and food. Expect to pay carnival prices for that! But you will be smelling fried food at every bend, so it will only be so long before you cave! I say, "mmmm" to cheese fries and funnel cake!
If you haven't checked it out yet, you still have one weekend left! They will be open this Friday-Sunday (May 2-4). Saturday they will have fireworks! Be sure to go online and get 2 for 1 entrance tickets and discounted bracelets for rides!
